What Are 1 Carat Engagement Rings?

A 1 carat engagement ring is a wonderful way to celebrate the beauty of your bond with your partner. Rest assured, at Alicia J we’re on hand to guide you on how to choose the right carat weight.

Choosing Carat Weight

Carat weight is marked with a ‘ct’ that illustrates the mass. Many people seek larger diamonds with a 1 carat weight or more to have an eye-catching presence on their finger. However, it’s important to remember the following:

It is not the sole determinant of a diamond’s value.

Cut refers to the ability of the diamond to reflect and interact with light.

Colour is measured on a scale, where stones with less colour are favoured.

Clarity focuses on the blemishes or ‘inclusions’ within the diamond. These are the aspects of the stone that make it unique.

When making an important decision on your engagement ring, it’s essential that you consider all of the 4Cs outlined by the GIA.

Choosing A Diamond Ring

“I ended up with a perfect ring and my fiancé couldn’t be happier. I would recommend (and have done!) to anyone.”

-Jamie

It’s not enough to decide on the carat weight. You also need to think about which shape you’d prefer for your diamond engagement ring.

Round Brilliant Cut diamonds offer 58 facets, fire and a timeless appeal, making them highly popular. In contrast, Princess Cut diamonds provide a modern, square shape with excellent brilliance. For a more unique shape, Marquise Cut diamonds create a flattering, elongated effect on the fingers, giving the illusion of a bigger stone.

1 Carat Engagement Ring FAQs:

We’ve done our best to answer some questions that you may have about our 1 carat diamond engagement rings:

Why Does My 1 Carat Diamond Look Small?

There are a couple of factors that could make a 1 carat diamond ring look small. The first and most likely of these is the diamond shape. An Asscher diamond, for example, may look smaller, but an elongated oval shape will draw the eyes in and looks bigger, while making the finger appear more slender. A poorly-cut diamond may also look small as much of the weight would be in the invisible part of the stone, lodged in the setting.

Is It Worth Getting A 1 Carat Diamond?

A large proportion of diamond rings bought in the UK are 1 carat. This is because 1 carat is generally considered as the correct size to be big enough for an engagement ring. However, it is possible to get a smaller carat weight and choose a shape that accentuates the size. Always remember that other aspects can help make your ring truly special. These include the metal band, the style or surrounding rings, and the meaning you attach to it. Talk to us about creating your perfect bespoke engagement ring.
